This is not a normal show.
So what is it?
This is a non-competitive event celebrating history and horses. So, there is no 1st, 2nd, or 3rd place. One can enter with either modern characters dressing up or historical character simply living their lives. Any historical time period is allowed to be shown, and research for historically accurate images is highly encouraged. This is not a normal show.
So what is it?
What do we draw?
Are there any story elements?
If you want to! You can submit just a drawing, or add a story to go along. Historical characters would probably be going about their everyday lives, and modern characters could be attending a living history/reenactment event.
Pre-Registration
Having only one horse and rider shown can get rather lonely, and this is a community event. Therefore, features and drawing multiple horses is highly encouraged! So that everyone can know who and what to draw, there is an optional pre-registration. Simply comment with links to a reference of horse and/or rider and information about the historical clothing/tack that will be used.

Do we get anything for participating?
Do we get anything for participating?
Yes! Although this is a non-competitive event, I will be giving out some awards for some secret categories, and everyone gets to have fun drawing horses with a historical spin and seeing everyone else's amazing entries.
When do we have to have our drawings done?
November 25th
Anything else?

Queens of the Turf Master List
This is a master list of horses that may be covered in my Queens of the Turf project. This list slowly grew everytime I ran across new cool racing mares/fillies without me quite realizing to what size it had grown until I went through and formatted and catalogued things. There is a strong possibility that not all of these will get entries, but at least this will give anyone curious a starting point for names to look into. This list will also likely change, probably mostly expansion as new racehorses achieve feats or I run into historical records, but also some reduction if I determine that a horse's race record just doesn't quite merit their inclusion or there is simply insufficient information readily available. Inclusion on this list was based on (with only the first category giving automatic inclusion): Official acknowledgement as being of exceptional quality in a Part I country (Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, Chile, France, Germany, Great Britain, Hong Kong, Ireland
Some Champion Racehorses and Statistics
I recently purchased a book for research for Queens of the Turf, and it contains some listed championships and records that I was unable to find anywhere online, so I'm copying the information here to aid in dissemination of knowledge. The book in question, from which all of this comes, is Horse Racing: Records, Facts, and Champions 3rd edition, by Tony Morris and John Randall.
British Horse of the Year winners
Bloodstock Breeders' Review determined horses of the year from 1959 to 1965, with 20 racing journalists voting on a horse. Each horse, their age and sex, and the number of votes they received are copied here.

Queens of the Turf
Once upon a time, I thought that it would be fun to draw some portraits of historical racehorses and compiled a list of some racing mares to do. I have decided to actually do so, and share the results, with little informational articles accompanying the pictures. New entries will be released on Fridays, with hints on the next entry.
Suggestions for future entries, or recommended informational resources, are welcome.

Here's mine! I hoped to get a couple of other character/horse combinations drawn as well but haven't had time so you just get the one, but it's a brand new one so hopefully a whole new horse makes up for it being just the one horse! lol
